Books I'm writing

I’m glad you’re curious to read about my work in progress books! Hmmm, that is why you’re here, right? Well, pull up a chair. I will discuss a little bit about the stories I’m writing. I will be sure to include a project that is going to be a 100% published with The Wild Rose Press. Whoohoo!

I’m holding off on mentioning all but one of the book titles. I wish I could reveal them to you, I do, but I can’t until they actually get published. I’m very protective of my titles. Believe it or not, it actually isn’t illegal to steal an author’s title. I’ve seen it happen before, so I try my best to avoid that predicament.

YA Fantasy novel

What’s the project about?

Oh, this one must be the dearest to my heart. It’s also one my oldest so maybe that’s why. It was in 2013 when I was daydreaming on my bed. This vivid action scene came to me, which is one of the first scenes in chapter one that the reader gets to experience. It’s a huge opening and tells the reader right away that they’re dealing with an action-packed story involving two siblings who couldn’t be more different. One is timid and fearful. The other is hotheaded and aggressive. Together they have to work together to complete an ancient mission. This story was supposed to be a short story but I saw that it had too much potential to stay a short.

Who do you think this book is for?

Teens and young adults who love fantasy/magical worlds. It’s a coming of age kind of story. Lots of action and magic-type elements.

How long have you been working on this project?

Started it in 2013. Finished a rough draft in 2016. I had since shelved in 2016 to pursue other projects and I’m just now getting back to it. I know, I know.

Is it finished?

The rough draft is done, yes, but it’s still far from perfection or at a state where I could send it to an editor for consideration. Rewrites. Edits. 2020 is definitely the year I want to get it in top shape for agents and publishers.

YA fantasy novella

What’s the project about?

A young woman who loses her memory. She thinks everyone is out to harm her. I mean, what else is she to think when a man who claims to be her friend ends up locking her up in a dungeon? Once again, it was originally a short story but didn’t stay that way.

Who do you think this book is for?

Fantasy lovers. Maybe YA readers? It is a little more violent than my others. Lots of sword fighting and gritty scenes.

How long have you been working on this project?

A few inconsistent years.

Is it finished?

Most of the rough draft is already written.

What do you have left to work on before pitching it?

So many edits. Then I need to hire an editor before pitching to publishers.

YA paranormal novel

What’s the project about?

After reading Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children series (a read I highly recommend!) I was lying awake one night and had this vivid idea about a teen who finds something supernatural in an abandoned home. The story is in the pov of a teenage boy who’s going through a hard breakup. His world is turned upside down and he turns to his poetry for comfort. In the process of seeking out his muse in an abandoned house, he finds something not of this world. I looooove ghost stories, so naturally, I just had to write one.

Who do you think this book is for?

Probably YA readers. Anyone who likes ghosts, comedy, romance, and drama. 🙂

How long have you been working on this project?

Well, I started it in 2016, then stopped for a bit to pursue other projects.

Is it finished?

Not yet but it will be! This one is way too fun not to finish.

What do you have left to work on before pitching it?

Finish writing it. Editing. Etc.

Adult Horror novel

What’s the project about?

Other than my love for fictional horror, I wish I could remember what exactly made me start this project. Holy cow, I started this one in 2012. It’s about a young man who’s done a supernatural deal without realizing there will be consequences. A dead creature comes into his life for his soul. Constant hauntings occur. He’s at the end of his wits when a truck driver claiming to be an angel appears. His world becomes a nightmare fest when he realizes he’s in the middle of a supernatural battle.

Who do you think this book is for?

Anyone who likes the classic haunted house type stories, or creepy things in general.

How long have you been working on this project?

I think it was two years before I decided to shelve it and switch to fantasy stories.

Is it finished?

Unfortunately, no. I shelved it many years ago when it was at 30k. Since then I’ve gracefully moved on to other projects. This one is still dear to my heart and I do plan to complete it.

What do you have left to work on before pitching it?

Literally everything.

Dark fantasy novella

What’s the project about?

Well, I’m happy to say this project is done and dusted and is going to be published with The Wild Rose Press. That means I can scream out the title to the world. Curse of the Blacknoc Witch is a dark fantasy novella. I was writing a short story at the time about a boy being chased in the forest by monsters. This short story somehow blew up. Next thing I knew, idea after idea came, and it blossomed into this beautiful novella that I’m so darn proud of.

Here’s a peek at the blurb:

Samuel dreamed of being a lot of things, but a monster trapped in a forest realm never entered his mind. The Blacknoc Curse wasn’t supposed to be true, only a children’s story meant to persuade them away from evil. Yet, here he was tasked with hunting cursed kids. There’s nothing left for Samuel except the horror surrounding him. Layla, a young girl tormented by the same curse, is dropped into the terrifying forest every night, running from the monsters intent on taking her life. She meets Samuel and vows to save all the children, especially Samuel, from their torment. Working together can they defeat the Blacknoc Curse?

Who do you think this book is for?

YA readers who don’t mind monsters. Romance readers too. Action-packed. Great story about redemption and forgiveness.

How long have you been working on this project?

I believe it only took half a year to finish the rough draft. Now the time it took to apply non-stop edits, that’s another story.

When will it be released?

Ah, I don’t have a release date yet but trust me I will post more about this book when I can! Me and my lovely editor are still working hard to get it polished for all you wonderful readers. Readers deserve the very best quality. 🙂
